This past Weekend I was able to finish this 15 inch tall bottle. This Item is being donated to the Egmont Key Alliance for thier annual "Discover The Island" weekend Silent Auction November 10th and 11th. This particular bottle has a light house shape appearance and worked well for this auction. The Knotted Bottle was used by sailors to protect the bottle from breaking as well as a decorative purpose. The Knotted Bottle is 15 inches long and was made with 186 feet of Cotton line in a period of 18.5 hours. This is yet another great example of Marlinspike Seamanship. if you wish to see more awesome nautical knot works or Marlinspike Seamanship, visit the Marlinspike Seamanship page on www.marlinspikes.com

Yesterday I spent most of the day creating a Sailor's Needle Case. The Needle Case was used by sailors to store the sail needles required for mending sails. This Needle Case is 7 inch long piece of bamboo and was made with 52 feet of small line in a period of 11.5 hours. This is a great example of Marlinspike Seamanship at its best. Many folks do not even know of this style of knotting but it has been around for hundreds of years. if you wish to see more awesome nautical knot works or Marlinspike Seamanship, visit the store page of www.marlinspikes.com
